News Letter of Parthiveshvar Pooja
Hey OFS Family,
The holy month of Shravan is upon us, and with it comes a very special pooja – the Shiv Parthiveshwar puja! Have you heard of it?
I know, the name might sounds a little unfamiliar. But trust me, this puja is all about connecting with the divine in a unique and powerful way.
Here’s the thing: Parthiveshwar means “Lord of the Earth,” and that’s exactly what this puja celebrates. We create a Shivling (the symbolic representation of Lord Shiva) out of earth, reminding ourselves that Shiva’s divine energy is present everywhere, even in the ground beneath our feet!
But why a Shivling, you ask? Let’s dive into a little history. According to ancient scriptures, the Shivling symbolizes the infinite, formless nature of Lord Shiva. A legend tells of how the gods and demons struggled to comprehend the divine, and in their attempt to measure the infinite, they realized the futility of the task. The Shivling emerged as a representation of this incomprehensible reality.
So, the Shiv Parthiveshwar puja is not just a ritual but a journey back to this ancient wisdom. It’s a way to connect with the divine in its most primal form.
Now, you might be wondering, “what’s in it for me?” Well, the Shiv Parthiveshwar puja is a beautiful way to:
* Deepen your connection with Lord Shiva
* Experience inner transformation through meditation and reflection
* Foster a sense of community by joining others in this practice (if that resonates with you!)
* Become more mindful of the earth and our connection to nature
Intrigued? I bet you are! This puja is a beautiful journey for anyone seeking spiritual growth and a deeper connection to the divine.
But why during Shravan? This month is believed to be a time when the divine is particularly close to us, making the Shiv Parthiveshwar Pooja even more potent. By performing this ritual, you are not just worshipping Shiva; you are engaging in a practice that can transform your spiritual journey, bringing you closer to the divine essence that resides in all things.
So, how can you participate in this powerful ritual?
* If you feel ‘called’ join us for this pooja at our home-turned-office where we set up a simple altar at home with earthen Shivlings, handmade by our brahmins using mud and clay, that carefully adheres to a particular aakruti (Design) of the tithi (Date) it corresponds to everyday during the month of Shravan at
* We will set everything up! You simply have to show, with nothing but devotion in your heart!
* If a full pooja isn’t possible, simply meditate and offer prayers to Lord Shiva, focusing on his presence within the earth.
* Share this newsletter with those you care about! Let’s spread awareness of this beautiful and meaningful practice.
No matter how you choose to engage, the most important thing is your sincere devotion and open heart.
Wishing you a blessed Shravan filled with the divine energy of Lord Shiva.
Har Har Mahadev!
Warm regards,
The OFS Astro Palmist Team
